The Archipelago of Los Roques forms a rectangle declared National park in 1972 and includes more than 40 keys, the island of Big Roque, and approximately 250 coral reefs. Between all the islands belonging to the archipelago, the most important is Gran Roque for containing most of the population and being the administrative shopping center of the islands.
In Gran Roque there are sand streets, and that is why here you will see that most of the people walk without shoes. The houses and lodges in Los Roques exhibit impressive colors giving the whole island a sense of happiness and holidays. Besides, the sea is always near the town, so I will be very easy to go to the beach in a few seconds from any part of the island.
Something that you have to do in Los Roques is take the interesting 30 minutes walk to the lighthouse to observe the spectacular view of the whole island. FLIGHTS AND HOW TO GO TO LOS ROQUES
The Archipelago of The Roques is located 166 km to the north of the airport of Maiquetía (a flight of aprox.40 minutes). The simplest and rapid Way of coming is by air. There are commercial flights from Maiquetía, Porlamar and Valencia and there are several air lines to choose.
ACTIVITIES IN LOS ROQUES
